What is the proper gauge size for the battery cables on my '66 convertibles ?

Well, Chuck
As best I can tell a 4 gauge is the correct size.
But for long term useage, it is still best to buy a professionally made-up cable. Both for the positive and negative cables. It's not that much more expense and you have connection longevity to consider.
