Post by 66_Charly »

Here are the hose connections to the door lock relay, located behind the "Thunderbird" script on the passenger side dashboard:

EDIT: Text at rear vent switch hose corrected

David,

May I post this on the technical details page on my website? Credit given to you, of course.

Can you tell me if the ebrake and vent hose is coming right off the lock relay? If so, the system was changed from 65 to 66. Thanks Bob C
It's gonna be cool when it's done

Jim, Please do, I am honored at your request

Bob C,

Here' a close up from between the firewall and the relay (aren't digital cameras great for this hobby?)

EDIT: Text at vent hose corrected.

You can see that the line to the rear vent switch (red stripe) comes directly from the vacuum supply at the lock relay.

Ah-ha.... While you're in there, can you see if there is a vacuum line passing through the firewall near the big wiring harness connector on the right side? I'm thinking not as that's where the vacuum for e-brake and vent come in for 65. I've seen different vacuum diagrams for flairbirds, it looks like there was more than one way to route things over the years. I mapped out how my 65 with A/C and vacuum trunk release were done. Thanks, Bob C

Bob C.
Uh-Oh, man is my face red. I made a mistake and will edit the photos to correct it shortly.

Only the rear vent supply comes off the lock relay. The supply for the e-brake and the lock switch come from the firewall near the fuse block!

Sorry for any confusion!

Hey no worries, thanks for documenting your work. I'd like software that I could use to show the vacuum layout on my car, any ideas?

Software? How about hardware like they used in Ford's Engineering studio - drafting table, vellum, technical pens, T-square, triangles, French curves and a lettering guide?
