On a different subject, stay away from aftermarket electric or power windows. They don't have the poop for larger heavy windows. If anyone has a lead on a pair of stock power window regulators, send me a note. Thanks in advance.

CRAP! I just saw a gutted out '63 at one of the yards I go to that still had it's window regulators. I was surprised they would even have a 'Bird that old in the yard still!!Dusty wrote:On a different subject, stay away from aftermarket electric or power windows. No worries John. Got a pair from my connection in Texas. Just need motors now. Thanks for the thought.
Re: Labor of love
Sure looking good.
Apologize for missing this. What mod if any was done to left side shock tower brace to accommodate large dual m/c and res? 2nd question: homemade stainless brake lines, yes?

Re: Labor of love
The shock tower bracing has had several incarnations. With the TIG welder in my future, I will probably build something out of aluminum. If you check my forum you will see where I had re-clocked the top plate of the shock tower. Filled the holes and re-drilled the plate so the mount would clear the M/C. As far as stainless brake lines, I haven’t given it much thought.

Nice! I note, however, that the dog appears unimpressed.
Re: Labor of love
John: Going to try welding aluminum and TIG makes really clean welds.

Re: Labor of love
Learn something from my stupidity. This is an aftermarket power window setup. They are great if you are putting them in you Mazda, not for the tonnage, that is a T-bird window. So don’t even think about it.
Once you wise up and decide to use the stock power window regulator, do not bench test it. The main spring was designed to off-set the weight of the window. The motor has enough torque to brake the plastic and rubber connector that connects it to the regulator. You can test the motor separately and operational check it when its together in the door, with the weight of the window.
