fe360 engine

when did these engines come out.What was the compressionn and standard horsepower. Iam planning to bolt my intake manifold on top with my 4bbl carb with it. How much would that then generate in horsepower. Larry

360

360's were pickup engines in the late '60s-mid '70s. They were dogs. You'll lose HP and torque from the 390 and may not be satisfied with the result.

Ditto - if I remember correctly, HP ratings were in the low 200s (215?) - not exactly up to hauling that big 'Bird around!

Larry, I agree with these guys. I have owned several 390's including a 69 Mercury Cyclone GT with the High Performance 390 and man it was one fast ride. The 390 it is a great engine. Lots of torque, reliable runs a little hot but it gets the job done.
