I recently joined and I'm sure I will be asking questions. I've already found info I needed just by reading the old posts. Anyway, I purchased this car and am the 4th owner. The previous owners all knew each other and the car was garaged it's entire life (no rust that I've found at all). I've had it for about 6 weeks and still haven't driven it. It sat without being ran for about 10 years. I got it started but didn't want to press my luck. Right now the radiator is being re-cored, I've replaced the timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, altenator, and rebuilt the carb. When the radiator is back I plan on replacing all the undercarriage steering components (upper and lower ball joints, tie rod, etc I have already purchased them) Then on to brakes and tires and hopefully to the street.
The only problem I am having is finding someone willing to replace the rubber around the windshield and rear window. All the glass is original and it seems folks around here are afraid of breaking it.

A few pictures of my bird living in Sweden
All of the pictures where taken in the summer of 2008.
Notice the Silver plate with the first owners name on, still there!!
My brand new restored Autolite 4100 from Pony Carburetors. The carb.spacer is now replaced (this looks bad!!)

Here she is her first day home she was dragged out of a garage where she was rusting out for 29 years
Rusty battery tray, I say what battery tray, classc sheet metal came through with a replacement panel as well as a tray welded in it looks like it was there all along
I loved what was left of the exhaust including the florida plate fix on the hole and there was no exhaust piping after that point all the way back to the rusted out mufflers when we dragged the car out of the garage the rusted out piping was still on the floor
My baby with her new 428 in the painted bay still aways to go but it is looking good to me and yes it is a 65 hardtop, with a 66 drivetrtain, and a 67 brake system, I want it to run but I also want it to stop
and there she sits awaiting her next bit of construction the recored radiator is in and she runs great, just not moving yet have to adjust the tranny linkage can't find reverse yet, as well as button up a bunch of stuff then have some fun

Man, exactly the sort of car I was NOT looking for when I was in the US!!
Too much work for this boy when I'm so far away from parts, wrecking yards and vendors!!!!
Good luck and keep us posted about the progress eh?

ok here are a few friends rides some may like them some may not but you have to appreciate the work that was put into each
Alberto's 64 hardtop looks like a nice ride I like the color matched bumpers
and my wind up doing mine the same seeing I have a bit of a rust problem
Things get better under the hood
A big block 460 with trick flow heads and nitrous NICE!!!
if you look even closer you will see a mustang 2 front end has been added
and that is why he has the Foose rims with front calipers
and the hydroboost brakes helps stop the heavy car
Why do all this to a Tbird because he drag races it in south america
And my buddy Nick
Nice red 66, but wait aren't those corvette rims???
they match the Corvtte moter
Nick took a 66 Tbird and put in a 96 Corvette Drivetrain
That's right boys and girls, Engine, tranny, and full suspension went into this one
and since it is a 66 all th emission stuff was removed and the computer was reflashed
which means a LOT MORE horsepower
he isn't done yet still alot of finetuning to do as expected but it is a nice ride
And he has been a great source for my parts seeing he keep almost everything that was original to his 66 that is now going into my 65
it just isn't fair that all my friends have cool rims on their cars

It took a while to do the engine bay, but was worth it. The hood hinge broke so I took off the hood, did the work in the fall/spring and got back on the road for next summer. Many parts are powder coated, which is the way to go. I used the Vintage Tbird Club Specs to help with the detailing.
I originally bought the car because it had nice chrome all around... The sun happened to hit the fenders just right that day. No special effects for the sparkle, just amateur luck.
Enjoy.
