new upper radiator hose, ?#

Post by hutch3 »

I am installing a exact fit A/C system from Old Air. The new upper hose impinges on the front mounting 'peg' of the Sanden compressor I have thought of cutting the peg off and grinding it smooth (this peg is not used at this time) but it is permanent. What have others done to make this work, Thanks.

Have you contacted Old Air??
PLEASE invest a few bucks and buy all the shop manuals for your car. Definitely will save you much time and be an education.

Joe is correct. Cutting the compressor without the knowledge and ok of Old Air could void any warantee you may have

I'm just living with it for now. I put a corrugated plastic wrap around the radiator hose to provide some protection. I also loosened the hose at the thermostat outlet (when engine was cool) and rotated the hose "upward" a bit to take a bit of the force off where it goes over the compressor. My year will be up soon and I'll probably take a cutoff wheel to the compressor mounting tab.

Hi, I just added about 4" to the upper hose. I used a piece of exhaust pipe inside hose then added the hose to radiator. I'll try to send a pic.
