My Tbird is going to Long Island

Post by redstangbob »

After a couple of years going back and forth, this spring I decided it was time to pass my car on. We had moved to the "thumb" of Michigan, very rural and lots of space but a tough place to drive a classic car. I put it in an online auction, I'm happy with what it brought. The new owner is also named Bob and is very excited to get it. I've been looking for my next project, and this time my posts will have to go in the "modified" section, I want to go a little more hot-rod

Bob, What color is that? Looks like my Charcoal Grey or green? Hard to tell..As you know Charcoal Grey is very uncommon..
I am on Long Island so maybe I will see your car..Or maybe they will join the local club. Long Island Thunderbirds

Paint code 'R' called Dark Ivy Green for tbird and Spanish Moss for Lincoln. It's not quite as grey as the bullit Mustang. I'll give the new owner the info on your club

If you don't mind me asking, what online auction did you use?

I went with Bring-a-trailer.com Their system seems to weed out the tire-kickers, if you want to bid they put 5% on your credit card, and you can't snipe at the end. I think I did ok.

Bob I just hope you stay in the Bird family with your replacement car. Maybe something like a Aero Bird SC
Also hope you retain your Moderator position.

So I'm going to do a follow-up, my car never went to New York. The buyer developed "issues" at home, and wouldn't follow through with the purchase. The car was re-listed, and sold for a couple of bucks more this time. The buyer was a super nice "car guy" from Maine, and the money was in my bank within 36 hours. He had it shipped to him enclosed, and just reached out to me to express how much he's enjoying the car. In his words it's 'magnificent'. I've got no plans to go away, I'd actually love a square bird as my next project. From it's last day in Michigan

That is a beautiful car, Bob! Glad to see it went to a good home. The '63 has long been my favorite 'Bird, but the '65 is a close second, especially in Ivy Green or Emberglo. Congratulations!

Hey, my old buddy! I check in here from time to time and was a little sad to see you've sold your '65. I have some idea how much time and love you put into that car but it's nice to know it went to a good home.

Look forward to seeing what your next project will be.

Take care Bob, Gary.
