56 312 Spark Plugs

Post by goldwinghg »

I'm wanting to change my spark plugs,in my 56 312. The plugs, that are in it now,are Motocraft 5125. I can't find, anything that says, what the should be. Any help, with choosing the best plugs, would be very helpful.

I use Autolite 46's in both of my Y blocks, seem to work good.

Concours has BF-82 plugs but at $4 ea Rock auto has several different makes and models that work if you are not going concours for about $1.50 ea. I bought mine from there and work great. Plugs have changed over time and are improved.

The 1956 Thunderbird hand book that comes with the car just states the type of plug 18mm Anti Fouling plugs the spark gap is
(0.032--0.036) installed as original equipment in the Thunderbird engine. 60 degree tapered seats fit directly on the mating surface of the cylinder heads.
No mention of a brand name.

I'm sure Rock Auto made sure of the specifications. These engines are not rare and brand name was not listed as that would be Autolite by default.
