Interior lights ‘71

Post by Bcool »

Hi Everyone. I accidentally pushed the interior light switch in the door jamb into the hole. Yep, dumb moment. I’ve removed the kick panel and the metal access door but can’t gain access to the switch hole. Any suggestions? Also what is the click heard when opening the door. Sounds like a solenoid or relay.
Thanks
Barron Cooley

Barron, I have just recently acquired my second 67 Fordoor. The first one was over 40 years ago, so my attention to detail and carefull restoration skills were not quite honed at the tender age of 15.

I do need to dig into my door jamb switches and figure out a few "gremlins".

I have been reading and reviewing the vacuum and electrical diagrams. On a 67 the opening of the driver's door triggers the steering column to swing up and away allowing easy entry. I am not sure if a 71 has the same tilt swing away steering column, but if it does this could be your solenoid click sound you are hearing. Just a thought...

Steve, Thank you for your response. I know that it is pleasing for you to have a ‘67 again. Those memories never fade, do they? My Dad had a ‘65 and I remember it having the swing away steering wheel feature. So cool. Unfortunately the ‘71 doesn’t have it. Maybe someone else on here will chime in with some valuable knowledge about the light switch problem that I caused. Thanks again for trying to help.
By the way, do you put many miles on that Scat Pack or are you saving it?

The click is the seat backrest release solenoids, releasing the seat back locks.
