Holley carb

Post by ken736cc »

Hi everyone,
Long time lurker, first post. I have had a Holley 4160 carb on my 1963 Bird for many years. I sent it out for clean/rebuild. I have forgotten how the throttle return spring and the other 2 smaller springs are installed. If anyone has any clear pictures it would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.
I have owned this car for 50 years. I look forward to making it road ready again.

Holly's website has very good photos of their 4150/4160 carbs. Stock carb on these was a Ford/Autolite 4100, so anyone with the original setup prob can't help with photos. That said, the location of the return spring isn't terribly important, as long as it's pulling the throttle closed and has the right tension and is secure.

Whatever you do don't hook one end of the spring around the throttle shaft of the carb.
The tension of the spring will wear the shaft / body of the carb.

Hi,
That is good to know about the throttle shaft. I was going to duplicate the original spring installation as closely as possible.
