FE 406/427 Exhaust Manifold Fit a 390 in a 62 Tbird?

Post by kbuhagiar »

Hello Folks,

A quick question for the FE experts...

Will the 406/427 factory high performance cast-iron headers fit in a Tbird with the 390?

Short of these, any recommended less-expensive alternatives?

Thanks.
Cheers, Ken

I have FPA headers on my 61, installed in 2014. Cost was about $700 as I recall. Like some others on this forum, I had to add about 1/4” shims under the motor mounts to provide clearance. I also had to heat and bend the transmission fluid filler tube to clear the headers. If you search these forums you will find some have used Sanderson headers with success. I believe the Sandersons are a little less expensive than the FPA’s. Good luck.
