seat track slides

Post by macpeppers »

my seat track slides were rust frozen. I was able to get them apart and found the remains of two 5/8" ball bearings inside each side and what was left of what looked like a spring steel retainer for each ball. I think I can repair it if I knew what it looked like. if someone has a picture or a description of this retainer I would sure appreciate it.
thanks,

The two ball bearings in each side are actually what the seat rides on. I believe the spring steel that you are talking about are the races that the ball bearings ride on. Memory fades on which one, but I had to grind off one of the pins that hold the assembly together so it could be taken apart. You will also have to pry up a tab to be able to disassemble. Carefully record (pictures) how everything goes together before going to the next step. Replace the ground off pin w/ appropriate size bolt & nut.

Hope this helps.
