Engine noise what is it?

Post by OneAmongOthers »

Okay so I finally got my new exhaust put on and now I can properly hear the engine. So now what could this noise be? Valve tap? Pinging? or maybe a vacuum leak?

My guess would be a lifter is failing.

Yeah, I am guessing lifters or valve tap myself. Going to pull the covers off when the rain stops and see what's underneath.

Exhaust leak. Likely coming from the choke heat tube flange gasket on the intake manifold.

It's coming from the thermactor manifold on the back of the head. There is a crack or hole in it. I can put my finger over it and stop the popping noise.

I managed to get the piece out and was able to get a plug into the hole and tapped it in with a tiny children's hammer.
