66 dash color code

Post by shakotko »

Hello.

I have a 1966 tbird convert. White seats with the light greenish dash face. Similar photo attached. I would like to repaint the portion facing the passenger since some rust is coming through. Would anyone know the color name or code for that greenish metal color?

Thanks Paul

The information you seek is probably still with the car. Take a look at the data plate, which should be riveted onto the end of the driver's side door. Feel free to post a photo of the plate (or the data itself) for help decoding. Another option is to reference the sticky at the top of this forum, which leads to a detailed docoding document.

Unless the dash has been repainted over the years, you'll find the interior color code on the plate. Now, finding a matching hue from modern paint dealers, that's a bit harder.

Color descriptions and paint numbers are in VTCI's 1964-66 Original Factory Specifications Manual (OFS). You're looking for the Ivy Gold interior (I'm going off of memory with name). Suggest going to an older auto body paint jobber with paint chip charts for interiors from 1966 for Fords/T-birds to find colors. I HIGHLY suggest you obtain/purchase a copy of the OFS manual as it has a WEALTH of info beyond just this kind of data.

Hello Tbirds.
I have purchased the manuals online...awaiting arrival. In the meantime,
the VIN in the photo attached. Would anyone be able to help transcribe?

Thanks for your help.

Update, I found this:
http://www.tbird.org/DataPlate/vdata.htm

that seemed to answer many of the questions I have.

Thanks

You didn't look hard enough in VTCI's website:

If I am reading this correctly, the original color was Honey Dew Yellow. But I am unsure where to understand the dash colors....?
The car was painted green (under the flaking paint) at some point in time, and then red. It is also possible the door (and plate) isn't original...more exploring needed.

Thanks

Interior code G8 means white seats, door panels & dash pad edge. Ivy gold for dash panels, console and other trim. All this is spelled out in a table in VTCI's Original Factory Specifications manual. Suggest you obtain one by becoming a paid VTCI member and purchase OFS through VTCI Country Store.

You can compare the VIN from the data plate on the door to the stampings on the body to confirm that it is original to the car.

ONTARIO!!!!!
Do we have a new VTCI member in my back yard??? Where is this fellow hiding???
Is he aware that the area has some other Birds roosting around? The SOTC is having a gathering in Guelph at the Rib-Fest this Saturday, if interested, and is welcome to come out, if local to the event.
Send me a PM, and we can talk.
