Tulsa VTCI 50th Anniversary

Post by RAVEN »

Felt this was a better place to post, than in Members only area.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!!! left home today and on the road to the Tulsa 50th Anniversary event. Information shows a very large attendance is planned. From Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and many U.S States. It would appear that the organizing commitees, have put together a fine show from far away zones.

Hope to see all on the upcoming Wednesday thru Saturdays'

Have arrived in Tulsa, after following VP Ed E; it so happened that he was staying at the same hotel we were on the way down; and we travelled together for a SHORT while. Turns out, his cruising speed is a tad faster than mine. My fuzzy speed is 65, where his is more like 75, he left me in the weeds. Funny thing is, 300 miles later, it seemed, it was him passing me, guess I go further on a tank of gas. Then again, as I was driving around the hotel parking lot, Ed pulled in again behind me. IT CAN BE SAID the Turtle wins the race against the Hare.
Noticed several Retros parked in the lot, and a nice big area fenced off with signs and Pink ribbon. Should be no issue with trailer parking.

The party is about to start.

Just home from Tulsa, what a WONDERFUL event. To put on a show with no one local to the base hotel, and have tours of Route 66 info and such, friendship, judging, party feelings and on and on is just GREAT.
Will try to post pictures and send more info shortly, once I settle in home.
ONE THING IS; I MET the founding fathers of this wonderful club, and how it all came to be. If you missed it you missed a lot.

...and you missed Raven at his finest...and, no, he's not lying down on the job. Sadly I don't think anybody got group pictures of all of us Forum attendees together at one time, but we all had plenty going on.

Wish I had a pillow though, my neck got sore from holding my head up, as I filled in the judging sheet for undercarriages. A lot of nice cars to inspect in the 105 odd degree heat. I chose undersides on the idea of getting out of the heat, when I could. Had a nice padded blanket to lay on so my backside did not cook on the asphalt.

Since I live in the country and my internet is SAT based, the FORUM and my service provider seem not to talk well. SO no picks will work.
Wonderful thing is FACEBOOK has some wonderful pics of the event, I recommend you look up the site and see some outstanding photos.
The event was one for the history books. The 50th Event, in my eyes was well run, had VERY minor problems, and exceded one who had club direct ties. Where can you organize an event from 100 miles away and have a great show. The stage has been set and the bar set high for the future.
May I wish the upcoming CLUB actions to be the same, and I will help if I can.
The future is in our hands.
