Know what you mean my 69 does not have one so always have look over my right shoulder when moving to the right lane or just looking to see whats on my right side. Did they just not come with a right mirror?

I’m not certain if it helps any but the 70 I just bought has a pass side mirror on it but it isn’t factory. It is a electric mirror and quite honestly other than being electrically adjustable it looks like the same mirror that was on the 76 we had and it actually looks better than the drivers side mirror. I know the other 70 and a 68 I had did not have pass side mirrors.
Have had over 40 t birds here from 57-2004
Currently have a 65,70,and 80 Silver Anniversary

From the Ford Master Parts Catalog which covers 1965-1972 Model Years:
1967-1972 (yes I know '72 is a different body than ours), "Companion Right Hand Mirror NOT AVAILABLE"
Where the part number should be in the catalog there is simply an * which indicates a part no longer serviced. However,
normally (in every other instance I've come across in the MPC) with discontinued parts, the part number remains in the
catalog, with the * next to it.

I too wished I had a Right mirror when I, to my dismay, discovered this in the catalog. So I gave up hope, as Ford had never offered them for Birds post '66.

Then... An NOS, C7SZ-17696-A Right Hand "Companion" Mirror shows up on eBay!!!
A part that was not supposed to have ever existed.
I think I ended up paying around $500.00 for it  But it means that they do exist! How, I don't know... I asked the seller if he knew anything about the history of the item, and he, reluctantly I might add, informed me he knew "nuthin".

If anyone in the know, could shed some light on this, it may help solve one of my "life's mysteries" lol

The right side mirror for the 1969 Thunderbird was an option, not standard equipment. Though honestly just replace both mirrors so you can get a matching set. Not hard to drill holes in your door for the mounting bolts. It's what I intend to do.

Right hand mirrors did/do exist - but are extremely rare. There really are no suitable alternatives either due to how/where the base of the mirror attaches to the car. Universal mirrors and even the Bronco Mirror that you may read about will not sit up where they should be. Best and only solution is to keep your eyes open on ebay, and double check every parts car you see online listed for sale to see if it might have one. They are somewhat of a Holy Grail item.

Its easy enough to just rip the original one out and put in a new set. If you are painting the car its even easier to cover up the existing mounting area. There is some really nice alternatives around.

Thanks for the info, but I don't want to change the originality of it. It would seem that there are no mirrors of the same style available anywhere and only a handful ever made.

They made 1500 Right hand mirrors for the 67 tbird. That is why they are a 1967 part number.
They were found to be non compliant in size and were recalled.
500 were fitted by dealers and the owners refused to remove the from their cars
500 were returned and crushed.
500 were not recovered.

See pics of a NOS 1967 Thunderbird RIGHT HAND MIRROR.
The larger left hand mirror is a 1968 for comparison.
Hopefully the pics attach.

And yes the right hand mirror is the holy grail in NOS.
Took me 5 years to get it and a lot of $$$$.

Cheers

5 years of searching for the part educated me I guess.
I’ll try and find the link to the article about the mirror dilemma that Ford found themselves in.

The smaller 67 mirrors look the best on the glamour birds in my opinion.

Please do post, if you find it! I love having the little "pair" on my Bird.
Worth every penny, not to mention untold times it's saved the right flank from possible damage, backing into the garage!!
