Cloth Interior Inserts 1958

Cloth inserts on 58 Tbirds are pretty rare but I have a question.

Do the interior door panels still have the white bottoms (as well as white on the rear quarter units) or are they the same color as the main vinyl color (aka black, blue, green, etc?)

Lower door panel material (below the stainless trim that dips for the armrest) is white vinyl - this includes the embossed oval pattern. If I remember correctly, monotone door panels didn't show up until '59 with leather interiors (someone can correct me on that one if I'm wrong - it's only been 10 years since I've worked on the '58-'60 OFS Manual, which BTW you should get).

So even though the seat on cloth cars are essentially a solid monotone color, the door panels would still have he white lower embossed trim.

Talked to SMS fabric (they have everything it seems when it come to upholstery. The lower door panels are white because the cloth insert are a tweed like material and not solid in color.

So there you go.

The door panels on the 58 are the same no matter the interior.
Bottom same as seat covers did not occur until 59 with the introduction of leather.

Please note that the cloth interior for 58 originally used by Ford is called a highland tweed. It's my guess as I experienced when I did my 58 that finding the original material was unobtainium. I found something close but not exact.
If you want an exact match to the original you will have to have the fabric woven. This was way beyond what I was willing to spend.

I do have a very small example of the 4 cloth interiors contained in the dealer showroom book.
