aluminum intake

Post by sleeper bird »

been looking at intakes for my 66 428 stock rebuild with the sniper. Will the eldenbrock performer work with the stock air cleaner as far as clearance? are there anymore good choices out there? or is it even worth the money other than shedding a few pounds.

Performer will fit just fine. As will a performer rpm. I have an old edelbrock streetmaster intake on mine. Open plenum works better with the sniper system, so at minimum get an open spacer to minimize your risk of having issues. 1/4" should work. Bigger if you have the clearance.

Performer wont really help you make any more power. The performer rpm will make a bit more.. and they will all save more than a little bit of weight. The original cast iron manifold is over 80 pounds if i remember correctly.

think im going to retain the stock manifold,i noticed on the performer and rpm there is no boss at the rear of the manifold to retain the stock pcv steel line.
