1968 front brake hose

Post by Skrulox »

Hello,

I recently bought a 1968 ford thunderbird, my first classic car. One of the things I'm needing to replace is the two front brake hoses. They are factory disc brakes. The issue is I can't seem to find the part for a reasonable price. (less than $100)
Is there a good substitute for the oem hoses?

Probably not if you want to keep the original calipers.

Damn, alright. I'm on a tight budget at the moment, but brakes aren't something i want to risk. I think I'll go ahead and get the ones i found on ebay for $100

You can get them from pretty much any vendor for steel braided brake lines. That's what I did. Was cheaper and an improvement at the same time.

For your '68 Thunderbird with factory disc brakes, you can try sourcing front brake hoses from specialty retailers like RockAuto, AutoZone, or O'Reilly Auto Parts. Sometimes, reproduction parts or NOS (new old stock) parts from sites like eBay, Thunderbird-specific forums, or classic car parts suppliers offer better pricing. Always ensure compatibility with your specific model.

As found by our 1961-1963 Tech Editor Jim Wulf, both rubber and stainless steel brake hoses can be found on Ebay from Brake Hoses Unlimited for '67-'71 and newer applciations (at least through 1979).
