I bought out a good amount of a Thunderbird enthusiasts
inventory (it was going to be scraped if I did not save it).
I am having trouble identifying a few items which I believe are from 58-60 and hope the experience here can correctly identify them.
I have two fiberglass contential pieces. Which are easy enough to identify. I Believe they are inners(by the trunk) But may not be correct.
But I also have these three metal covers two have holes for logos. I think they are outers. But I dont know if they are a 58 to 60 or later.
I think I have a contential bumper extension. But it has what looks like tow hook rings and the licence plate style does not look like the Thunderbird style.
I do have a few non Thunderbird parts I still need to identify. So its possible the contential bumper extension goes with them as it was a aftermarket kit in some cases.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide in keeping these from being scrapped.
Contential kit parts
Re: Contential kit parts
What your showing could be aftermarket parts, The only FORD factory Continental equipment were on the 56 Thunderbird,

I agree with ICON 1956. It has to be an aftermarket kit if it fits anything other than a 1956TBird.

Re: Contential kit parts
Ford offered the spare wheel carrier as an option for 1958-60 through dealers and over the parts counter. As for what the pictured parts fit, the solid faceplate looks to have 3 holes drilled in a V-pattern for a T-bird emblem; the other holes are for the 57-59 Thunderbird script / nameplate. The center bumper extension appears to look like the one for 58-60.
The fiberglass open face plates more than likely are copied from the 1956 T-bird one or are aftermarket. The other parts I have no clue as they don't match any of the parts in the illustration below from the 1960-1968 Ford Car Master Parts Catalog (which is also used in the 1960-1964 "Blue Bible").

Alan,
Thank you for enlightening me. I was not aware of this option.
