I'm in the final stages of putting the dash back in my car and found when putting the glove box door on there is some interference in the upper right corner between the new dash pad and glove box door. It looks like the pad is not flush with the dashboard in that area and I need to get the pad glued down better to close an ~1/4" void. The guy who did my dash is on vacation until mid next week, but I'd like to try and get the pad glued down this week so I can move on. I have limited access to the area so can't use a spray, but can use a pop sickle stick (or similar) to get some type of adhesive in there and then I need to figure out how to clamp it down.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a good adhesive to use that can be applied with a stick? Most contact cements say don't use them on vinyl and many are spray applications that I cannot get in there. If there was a spray application that had the little hose that fit into it, that would work, but so far I have not found one. From what I have found on line, the DAP Landua top cement would probably work, but I have only found it gallon containers for ~$100 and that is way more than I need.
TIA for any suggestions on a good adhesive to use and how best to clamp the dash down while it cures.

Re: Dash Pad Adhesive
Clear Shoe Goo has worked for me in many places for an adhesive. 3M weather strip adhesive works well also but I have only seen it in black but may also be available in clear. If the dash is back in the car maybe a piece of wood wedged to the floor to hold it in place. If not Irwin has a good line of ratcheting clamps but don't know if there are any with deep enough jaws to get in there as most I've seen are only 2 1/2" deep.

Re: Dash Pad Adhesive
Wellwood Contact Cement has always worked very well for me on vinyl. Bought a gallon many years ago and have used it for everything on 4 T Birds including dash (all three years), armrests, rear curtain, garnish rails, etc. Still have a half gallon (or more) left. If the area you are talking about is in the area I think it is you need all the strength you can get there and any "stretch" you may get by the use of contact cement will be hidden in the bend IMO.
Re: Dash Pad Adhesive
Is the Wellwood you bought from DAP? I think DAP may have bought the product line in the past as all the Wellwood I have found is made by DAP, but earlier versions of the can I have seen on line do not have the DAP emblem. I was initially going to buy DAP Wellwood Contact Cement, but it clearly said on the back not for use on vinyl. If you are using the DAP variant, I will go back to Ace and buy a small container of it. BTW, I think you also know exactly where I am working as your description is very accurate.Haz567 wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 1:26 pm Wellwood Contact Cement has always worked very well for me on vinyl. Ward,
When the Wellwood said it wasn't to be used on vinyl, I bought some Automotive Goo and tried it on a small section before I posted. Unfortunately, It didn't work very well. Thanks for the idea on the Irwin clamps. I don't think they will work, but it made me think of my welding vise grips. If I form a couple of wooden blocks to follow the contour, the vise grips will probably will probably work with the blocks.
ETA- Haz567, In checking the fine print, it looks like the Weldwood comes in a few different P/Ns for different applications. Can you check yours and let me know what your P/N is?
Re: Dash Pad Adhesive
Adhesive problem has been solved. The guy who did my dash called me back and was able to give me some of the DAP Weldwood Landua Top and Trim adhesive which he said is the best stuff to use.
Thanks Haz567 and Ward for the ideas.
