Quality Alert

Post by claybreaker 144 »

Top relays C1SF-15672-A and 0SF-15672-D are now supplied with the bus bar tab boss shorter than the original. The swaging operation is ineffective in securing the tab to the boss as it can be lifted off with finger pressure. I called this to attention of the vendor and replacements were sent out but they were the same. Soldering Iron is need to rework these!

I had an issue with one of my solder repairs holding. After several attempts the solder joint was good but the relay no longer worked! I called HydroElectric and they said Birds Nest was their supplier ( I would have guessed the opposite) and they were working on a fix. He also said he will replace all 7 relays I purchased when good ones were back in stock.
I called Birds Nest and when they made aware of the issue, the weak joint was reinforced with resin but not on the ones I purchased. There are upgraded replacements "on the water".

Thanks for the info.
May I make a sugestion if you have to solder them.

1.Solder the tab on its own.
2.Bit more tricky as its small ....solder the boss.
You may have to file some solder off the boss if its then too big to fit the tab, tap the excess solder covering the tab hole or drill solder to fit the boss.
3.Assemble then resolder both together.

Less heat doing it seperately should stop it failing
Use a flux on aid adhesion if reqd.
