Crankshaft/Camshaft Sensor Replacement
Crankshaft/Camshaft Sensor Replacement
After several replacement parts recently for my Bird, everything from a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, constant control relay module and powertrain control module, I thought now would be a good time to go ahead and swap out the crank and cam sensors so my new p.c.m. is getting a great signal from those two.......When it comes to Motorcraft parts for our MN-12's, I have used a Ford dealer located in Henderson, Nv., they don't have everything for my Bird but what they do have is at a real fair price for Motorcraft parts......So my crankshaft sensor(DY-922) was $44. and the camshaft sensor(DU-70) was $34......Both sensors are very easy to remove and replace, I always slick just a little grease on the sensor o-rings, this will keep ya from fighting to get those sensor's back out in the future and keep those o-rings from freezing up in there........Now replacing those two sensors, I noticed no difference in the way my Bird starts or runs but I've feel very confident that my new p.c.m. is getting some solid signals about the position of that crank and position of that cam......The two old sensors were working fine, both with about 30k on them, great for keeping on the shelf for a spare, if needed in the future.....

Re: Crankshaft/Camshaft Sensor Replacement
I forgot to mention in my O.P., in my opinion, anytime your changing either the crankshaft or camshaft sensor, you should do both at the same time, both sorta do the same function, sending info to the p.c.m. so it can decide what to do with that info............
