Expected Operating Temperature

Re: Expected Operating Temperature
Thanks Jim. Good information. I’ve been curious about the actual difference in temperature at the two locations. Reason being I adapted my digital gauge probe to the original sender location by using a plug in place of the factory sender. I drilled the plug for the probe within 1/16” of going through. I inserted the plug into that. It is not quite as deep into the coolant as a factory probe would be but provides a good index. I’m assuming my readings would pretty much match a heat gun. It’s been 20 years and seems to be fairly accurate. At least as accurate as any readout can be either factory or aftermarket.

Great idea on using a temp gun to check the temp. I’ll play around with that at the weekend.

Keep in mind that the temp gun might not be any more accurate than your gauge.
