Stock trim?

Stock trim?
I am trying to understand the stainless trim strip that goes the full length of the car. Most 62 have the trim. Some don’t. Why and which is correct for stock? Thanks Dave

Re: Stock trim?
If you're referring to trim on the side of the doors/quarters, that was an option from the factory and the dealer which was popular with '61-'62 owners. The kit carries a '62 T-bird part number, but this didn't stop '61 owners from installing it - the small pieces that fit between the ornaments of a '62 often times can be found installed on '61s forward of the stacked spears as the long piece of trim didn't extend all the way back to the '61-style ornaments. No such kit was offered by Ford for '63s, though.

Re: Stock trim?
My 61 had the two dashes. I had asked Alan the same question....

Re: Stock trim?
So,
Can the assumptions be made;
If the dashes/dash mounting holes are missing on a 62 the trim is NOT factory installed(since the factory wouldn't have skipped this step)
If the dashes are there, it is factory OR conscientious dealer installed.
