Power window too fast

Post by golfnickohio »

I recently rebuilt all four power windows on my 1965 Bird. They all work great now except the driver's side front widow seems to go up and down really fast. Actually, when it goes down it is almost like it is falling. Any ideas?

I've got no idea what's up (or down!) with this, but I do think it's the only case I've ever heard of where the window is too fast. All other window issues I can recall pertained to working too slow. So at least you have a distinctive problem.

Is there a coiled spring in the regulator assembly? The spring is there to assist the window being raised. If it’s in backwards it could allow the window to go down too fast and makes the motor work harder to raise the glass.
