Wiring Question

Post by doubleload »

The wiring harness in the engine compartment of my 62 contains 2 red wires with a black stripe. One red/ black wire is for the headlight low beams. This other red/black wire is folded and doubles back toward the firewall. The wiring diagram doesn’t show 2 red/black wires. Rather than digging into the wiring system, I’m hoping that someone out there knows what this wire is.
It’s possible that the former owner added something.

Taking a picture of the wire(s) your describing would help. Note that the wiring schematics are different from a 61, 62 and 63

I am not 100% Sure I can look at mine tonight. Im thinking that the one that doubles back is for oil pressure, coil or temp sensor.

I may be wrong, I got the diagram at home I can look at.

I'm looking at my engine now, it's a 62.

A red with a black stripe is for the headlight
A red with a white stripe and a red with a brownish stripe runs up on the engine could be for temp, oil, or coil.
A red with a blue stripe is for the starter relay.

my colors are faded and wires are stiff and brittle.
Here's a picture of what's on top of the engine.
