Hood hinges

Post by mbayrock »

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find either new hood hinges or where to have hinges rebuilt?

A common issue is these hinges wearing out and the hood no longer fitting properly. I tried a replacement set off a donor car, but it had the same issues..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a "Search" in the VTCI Forum for "hood hinge rebuild" and see what comes up. I seem to recall a posting several years ago for a person in Canada who rebuilds hinges for multiple makes/years. There may be someone else in the continental US of A who offers this kind of service. A good rebuild should include welding up worn holes, maybe even bushing them, and staking the rivet/hinge pins in place

I had some hinges rebuilt for 2 different cars I was working on, a 56 Olds and a 60 Cadillac convertible, sent both to SMS. They ain't cheap but it's what they do. Good luck, Bob C
