Hello Folks,
I have a 62 Tbird and I'm in a bit of a quandary about how to retain my battery in place.
The battery that came with the car is a brand-new DieHard, but it is not a Group 27F so it has no provision for clamping the battery to the tray. I am open to the possibility of using a later-model tray or perhaps modifying this one to accept some other form of hold-down method; my only requirement is that it look factory (and not like a JC Whitney hack job ).
Any ideas? Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what was your solution?
Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I have the same issue too, so would also be interested in the solution.

Re: Need Battery Hold-Down Solution for 62 Tbird
Browsing through the catalogs, it appears that Ford changed to a top-clamp system in 1965.
Does anybody know if the mounting bolt holes in the newer 65-66 battery tray are in the same place as the 62?
That would solve the problem and look like a factory setup...thanks!

Re: Need Battery Hold-Down Solution for 62 Tbird
On my boat I used long, heavy duty zip ties to hold the batteries in their tray. I found the zip ties in heating/AC section of a local hardware store. If you have access, this might work.

Thanks Bill, that's an idea.
If I can't find a more structured solution I'll give it a whirl.

Re: Need Battery Hold-Down Solution for 62 Tbird
In my 64 I changed the tray to one from the local parts store with 2 side rods and a top hold down.
