I pulled this wire off accidently when I was changing the wires.
It comes off the loom that has the RED wire (to coil) and the
RED w/WHITE stripe that goes up top to what is probably the TEMP gauge sender unit.
I'm guessing this wire is for the OIL light. It's much longer and goes underneath.
But WHERE?

Re: Mystery wire white w/ red stripe
I don't see a photo attached but with the description, it sounds like you're under the hood.
Red-white stripe goes between the temp gauge and temp sender
White-red stripe goes between the oil light and oil sender (side of the block on the driver's side)
The coil should have a black wire to the distributor and red-green band from the ign switch to the batt side of the coil.
That's assuming you're talking about the gauge wires. If you're car is overdrive equipped, there are wires using the same colors nearby on the firewall as well...
Red-white stripe from the OD relay to the kick down switch
White-red stripe from the kick down switch to the coil
If you're going to own the car for any length of time, the $19 1955 Ford Thunderbird Electrical Assembly Manual is worth it's wait in gold...it has both circuit diagrams and physical layout and location drawings.
Hope this helps.

Re: Mystery wire white w/ red stripe
Thanks, Chris.
I will have to look for where it plugs in.
It's definitely the OIL light

Re: Mystery wire white w/ red stripe
The wire for the oil sender/light is white with a red tracer. It goes to the oil pressure sender in the lower left side of the engine from the wire harness near the top rear left ( drivers) side near the water temp sender. It is routed through the steady rest
