push start ignition

i tried installing a simple push start ignition button running from pos battery to the button and the button to the outgoing post on the seleniod going to the starter. any idea why that would fail on a 67 tbird? anyone know what route would work? thanks, CB

You still need the key in the run position for the car to stay running

thanks, i do have it in the run position (the position before engine start) and still nothing.
