Amsoil - Type F

Amsoil - Type F
Does anyone use Amsoil Type F Synthetic trans fluid for your power steering ? Is it worth the $26 a quart to try to solve my PS whine?
Re: Amsoil - Type F
I buy it for $13~15/quart and use it in everything.
Years ago I was re-sealing my PS pump and had it in pieces, A buddy picked up the impeller and then put it back down upside down. I didn't realize what he'd done and put the pump together that way.
The result was heat, noise, very low pressure and I suspect, wear.
After a while I took it apart and flipped it around but the pump was noisy and chattered like it still couldn't put out enough pressure.
In desperation, I tried syn fluid and it worked. It occasionally makes a groaning noise when cold but it's been that way 30+ years.
FWIW, you don't have to use type F if you change all the fluid. The PS only cares that it has hydraulic fluid in it.
But the Type F isn't much more than the others so I keep using it.
I suspect it will solve your problem but if it doesn't, it's still a good investment IMHO and you can drain and reuse it no matter what you end up doing.
