Speedometer cable question

Post by John K. »

What's the difference between a cable for a '66 T-Bird with cruise control and one without? Is it just the cable lengths or are the ends constructed differently?

I have a 65 and just replaced the cable with a non-cruise one when I removed the remaining non functioning parts. I don't know if the C6 end is the same as a cruisomatic end but I'm sure a standard 66 cable will fit.

David,
Try finding a standard cable. They're like hen's teeth. Anyway, I decided to make an attempt at repairing my broken one and might have actually pulled it off.

Surprised at that. Tbird HQ have cables for all years. Yours is $49.95

I did go to T-Bird HQs and saw those cables, but they didn't look like the one I need. Mine has a plastic/nylon gear attached to the transmission end. It didn't say if the buyer is supposed to remove and reattach that gear to the new cable, so I passed on it. Anyway, I fixed the old one.
