Battery Cap Color

Post by tbirdtommy »

I know this has been discussed many times but I can find a set answer in the forums. I am needing a battery for my 1962 SR. I was thinking of asking Antique Auto Battery for a G27 with yellow caps. Is this correct? Or do I need a G27 with red caps? G27 is needed for the extra boost with the convertible, correct? Thanks for the help.

Do you have a current copy of the Original Factory Specifications, the info can be found there. Along with the battery info you will find also the correct voltage regulator label ID numbers and ink colour if you are going for full correctness. There is an incredible wealth of knowledge to be found in that one volume.

BTW look on Jim Wulf's web site and you again will get a wealth of information to base your car build on.
If his 300 point car is anything to go on, his YELLOW battery caps might be a good indication.
