I have recently purchased a 1959 Thunderbird convertible and my hood has a tendency to pop open. It has gotten worse and not it will not latch closed. Any suggestions? I have seen this issue a few other times on other Tbirds I was looking at, seems to be a common problem.
Thanks!

Have you cleaned and lubricated the latches or the cable for it? Try doing that first.

Try backing out latch stems to reduce locking preload. They may be to tight, not allowing full rap-a-round clamshell latch action.
OR
The locking stems are worn on underside and have a taper which allows lockstem to slip off/out of lock body.
