Hi,
Bought a new carpet set at a big supplier of thunderbird parts. But the shape of it sucks.
it is way to wide in the middle and i am not able to install it nice.
anyone got same experience?
do all the bigger Part suppliers sale the same stuff? or could there be difference between one and the others?

Re: Carpet sets
Good luck. The carpet I bought from Larry’s 10 yrs. ago was also a sloppy fit. I understand people who do prize-winning show cars restorations often forego the insulation/jute pad, and just glue the carpet to the floor to eliminate the inevitable bulges & wrinkles that result with available replacements.
Re: Carpet sets
Ditto on both of the above responses; my guess is that most everyone has the same supplier and fit may leave a little to be desired.
What do you mean when you say "too wide in the middle"? If you are talking about having it fit neatly on each side without trimming it probably isn't going to happen; they make them big enough to ensure it will cover and turn up under scuff and kick panels.
Lay your carpet out of the box on a flat surface for as long as you can so it will help reduce the wrinkles. If you have a steamer give it a go also. The carpet will lay over the hump better as it gets a little use, but you do need to get it to lay as flat as possible over and around the hump when you install. Good luck.

Re: Carpet sets
I bought it by Larry's or macs not sure now.
I used a jute under the carpet to try to fill it up but not enough.
With to wide I mean I can't put it nice around the transmission tunnel. If I put the stitches in the corners as it should I have at least an inch over in the middle.

I had the same problem not as bad as yours, so I used some left over home carpet pad, it was about a 1/2" thick laid it over the tranny hump to fill in the gap. the longer it sits there the better it looks.
