USA-740 radio finally arrived

Post by JimCunn »

Had wrong control knobs, but I was able to find the correct ones.

I'm also thinking about reconfiguring my original radio for 12v negative ground.

I haven't installed it yet, but it doesn't look to be difficult at all. You will need to replace the control knobs and bezels that come with the radio - they look nothing like Thunderbird controls.
I changed my 55 to 12V negative ground about fifty years ago.

The dash panel cutout for my original radio is 0.01 inch larger in the vertical dimension and 1/8 inch larger horizontally (1/16 inch each side) than the USA-740. However, I think the cutout for my original radio may have been done by the Dealer.
