Has anyone put Air Conditioning into a 1957 model ? If so your input and experience with that project would be greatly appreciated along with finished interior photos would be great .

HI Bob I am ready to pull the trigger on air conditioning too. Looking forward to hearing from our members.

I installed a Classic Air kit in my 57, Nice kit. Uses the original controls, has a bilt in evaporator/heater in place of the current heater box. Also has nice small outlets that mount under the dash. Very clean.

Did you have to modify anything under the dash, for the installation?
Did you locate the evap. in the center, or far to the right side?
My 56, looks like the door braces may need modified, to mount it in the center.

The Compressor bracket that came with in the kit for the Classic Air is for a Generator, I found a bracket from a guy in Texas Don at Fordcraft 972-423-4636 that has brackets that worked perfect. You have to drill and tap the the timing gear housing for the top inner mount. Not a big challenge. I sent all the info to Classic Air so they may now offer a bracket for an alternator now. The only other mod is you must remove the right side body brace under the dash and leave it off. I have had no ill effects so far. Good luck.
