1964 Aluminum Seat Panels

Post by stubbie »

Wanted 2 x aluminum seat back panels to suit 1964. Must have the tabs on rear. Slight scratches ok as I usually remove anodizing anyway. I live in Australia so posting to Perth 6026 thanks.

Stubbie, I may have the panels you are looking for, but want to know your level of acceptance of surface scratches. These panels are of a soft material and the "tangs" tend to break off when being opened up for removal, so to ship them they will have to be packaged in a fashion that may cost a heavy freight amount.
I wish to know the level of scratches, that you would be happy to accept, to off-set the postage. I may have several units, which I have yet to check, based on your input.
Will await your reply.

Hi Wally
Don't mind some light scratches as long as they don't go all the way through into the aluminum. I will probably remove the anodizing as I have with all my trim. The tabs are a must. Unfortunately I dropped one of mine last week and broke off 2 tabs, 1 tab already missing. If I can't get any with tabs I may as well use my own and find some way to rivet them on. Yes I was wondering about posting them. I think maybe the back edges together and maybe some cardboard in between to stop them being crushed and wrapped in bubble wrap. But as you say all will add to the cost. If you can find out postage without to much effort and let me know that would be great.
Thanks in advance

Have you considered using double sided foam tape to mount the trim pieces. There is some tape which is so good, they will never come off!
Just a thought,

Stubbie, I shipped Karl's brushes, and in doing so I quoted the cost to send the back panels, to get a ball park value. The number was around $100.00 Canadian dollars do to physical size not weight. A heavy price for an item that has no weight!!!!! I would try to repolish what you have.

Thought you would want to take a second look. A little heavy in price for 2 panels.
