Hood Springs

Post by 78T-bird »

Does anyone have a part number for the hood springs? I can't seem to find it anywhere. All I keep finding is for 61-66.

Unable to help with you part numbers for the hood springs, but if you are thinking of replacing the factory units, you might consider what I installed as replacements on my 79 Bird. The original springs caused the hood to sag down. So, I replaced them with springs from the early 80's Ford and Mercury sedans. The springs are heavy duty and keep the hood up where they are supposed to be.

Thank you BirdShepherd

This is what I needed. The hood only stays up about half way. Any chance on a part number for the ones you used? I moved to Europe so I have to find them online. Meanwhile I will search and see if I can find a part number from an early 80's sedan myself.

Anyone ever purchase something like this?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-1978-1979 ... 2714847003

Is it legit? I know its just photo copies, but is it real numbers?

Looks like real part numbers. Go ahead and try to find them using the numbers. You might also try looking for hood springs on ebay for the full size Fords or Lincolns in the mid 80's
