460 exhaust manifolds.

Post by Brettstgermain74 »

Anyone know if there is a header that fits a 460 in a 74 thunderbird. Verry little space for a header. My engine is a victim of a cracked passenger exh. Manifold and hard to find. What years can i use and what models do they come from. Ill check local junkyards. The engine is a D4VE.

Headers will be better answered in the 1972-1979 Modified Thunderbirds portion of the Forum, but quite frankly I don't think you'll find much (if anything) short of having a set custom-made. As for similar cars, '72-'76 Lincoln Mark IVs with 460s, possibly '71-'72 Mark IIIs with 460s and T-birds with 429s may cross. Look at 460s in '70s LTDs/Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars, but make sure you know how/where the exhaust outlets dump out, especially on the driver's side in order to clear the steering gearbox/linkage. D4VE is a Lincoln number. There are reproductions being cast of exhaust manifolds for 460s used in Mark IVs/T-birds available from Mark II Enterprises and possibly other Lincoln-specialist vendors such as Baker's and Lincoln Land.
