Re: 1964 Resto Mod
A Heim joint instead of a ball joint at the tie rod end is an interesting choice. I wonder if that suspension is a kit, or if they engineered that themselves I don’t know who ‘engineered’ it but just think all the potential for flexing/bending that long link from r&p end to the steering arm - w...

Re: 1964 Resto Mod
Nice but where's the roof?
And that steering rack to steering arm set-up wouldn't fly in this country, it might be OK for a car show cruiser but on winding rougher roads? Forget it!

Re: Engine stumble issues?
A wise auto-electrician once told me: 95% of carburettor problems are electrical! Check your vacuum advance by all means but also check your distributor for any issues (bad points, too big a gap etc) and check your fuel supply ie is there something restricting the supply to the carb, is the pump goo...

Re: Overheating and at a loss
And timing, check it, if too far retarded it will cause really bad overheating regardless if the car is moving or not.

Re: 66 power windows
I had a similar problem for a bit but it seems any voltage drop has the windows stickingmainly if the window is up, however if the I have the motor running the problem doesn't occur, i.e. if motor is NOT running I may (or may not!) have the drivers or passengers side window sticking right at the top...

Re: Fuel line dries out
Hi, OK thanks for that. I'm still wondering about the non-return arrangement. You can't have the fuel draining back to the tank every time you park on a hill.... Tony There would still be enough fuel in the carb to get the motor running - and that’s enough to get fuel pumped up from the tank. My ‘b...

Re: bullet birds in australia
I would guess Aussie was like NZ, the local Ford dealers didn’t sell Thunderbirds new, they all had to be private imports.

Re: OK Flair-Birders, time to show off!
Often a give-away that the car has been repainted is that the inner front fenders have been painted satin black, they should be the same colour as the cars exterior on a Thunderbird

Re: Changing the Focus of These Forums
I have used the forum to ask questions on many occasions and have been very pleased with the answers that I have received. I believe that owners should try and obtain manuals to see if a problem can be solved and being told to seek out the manuals is good advice as long as the reply also gives a go...

Re: Power Window Stuck Up
I’ve got the same issue with my ‘66, mainly the drivers window, it has a rebuilt motor, wiring/switches are good and there’s no indication of binding. As said, leaving it down a tiny amount is one cure but I have found (I suspect) it is a voltage drop problem - if the window fails to move it is when...

Re: rebuild Autolite 4100, new Edelbrock 1406 or EFI
I sent my 4100 to Dynamic Industries in Texas, I am 100% happy with the result, it came back looking like a new carb, it performs perfectly and I get over 17mpg (Imperial gallons so nearer to 14mpg US) and loaded with three passengers and a heap of baggage.
