Oh I also forgot to mention, since you have the engine out and the tranny, I would also make sure that the cable to the hood is in good condition and or find a way to have a back up cable release incase the primary one craps out.

I fully agree with Paul ! Yes the engine bay/trunk and body color are suppose to be the same color....But if your not going to be judged, Then you make it what you want. It's your car your taste. The antenna is a vertical electric which goes all the way down into the base of the unit, all that is exposed is just the top round button.

I hear you 55 black tie , My antenna when fully down still is up about foot and a half. I still throw caution when I'n cleaning the windshield. After what I have been through with the issue of the low ceiling on the lift.

I find that having the base of the Antenna placed on the right side (passenger). I always wonder how many times when the gas station attendant hit it or even bend it when cleaning the windshield. When I clean my windshield I also take caution not to interfere with it. This brings me back when I firs...

Yes it would be a PITA ,when removing the Hard top. You would need two strong individuals to help lift up it high. If you had no hoist to help lift it out of the way.

Are referring to the 55-57 Birds? If so the 57 had the option of placing the antenna in the middle of the deck "trunk," mounted in a slanted position to clear the top of the lid when raised. The right front fender did not have a hole for the more conventional antenna.
