Re: c6 modulator valve

Just had a look at my '66, it has a COM and the modulator hose runs from a brass fitting on the rear of the manifold on the passenger side, There's another vacuum hoses there for the PCV hose from memory. The brake booster has a plugged fitting on it that is the same dia. as would suit the vacuum ho...

Re: Advice on potential purchase

What's with those funny lights(?) on the rear panel below the bumper? And the strip that runs from the light-switch and down below the radio onto the console has been painted, it should be woodgrain. What is the little light just below the left side dash light? The screw just above the radio shouldn...

Re: Pertronix Ignitor 3 or optionPP

Other than the timing change i'm not seeing any negatives. Just seems a natural move. I'm bone stock so the only real advantage of the ignitor 3 is that it seems a bit more heat resistant. Buy two units or carry some points & condensors because like all electronic devices they either work or th...

Re: Parking Brake/Rear Vent Vacuum issues

The 'soup can' must also provide vacuum for the trunk release as my trunk release will work up to one hour (or even more) after the motor has been turned off.

Re: Holy #%&@ the CVR is hard to get to!

I attached a short strip of body panel gauge steel to my VCR, about 1" long, 1/2" wide. The end not attached to the CVR had a suitable hole in it, that went over the stud on the rear of the instrument cluster. Then it was so much easier to fit the CVR as it wasn't in the way when trying to...

Re: vacuum advance line hook up

Vacuum for the distributor should be sourced from intake vacuum NOT ported vacuum! (Intake vacuum is sourced from below the throttle plates.) It will give maximum timing advance when you need it - i.e. when the motor is not under load like steady light throttle cruising, this gives maximum efficiency...

Re: Tail Light Assembly...

I too had taillight sockets which cracked, and allowed the bulb to wiggle. My repair was to use a crimp style tangential hose clamp of a certain diameter. The clamp I am referring to is described as a "Keystone" illustrated in the OFS. In my local hydraulic suppliers, they call it an &quo...

Re: Horn still not working

tbird wrote:Don't think that those are relays if you are talking about inside the horn ring on the steering wheel, they are the horn contacts to complete the circuit to blow the horn.
I used that circuit to active a relay I fitted.
That in turn sends a good shot of full 12V to the horns and they work great.

Re: Smoke coming off of exhaust manifold

Both ATF and brake-fluid create white smoke in/on the exhaust so I would check your power-steering hoses and your master-cylinder - especially the master-cylinder since you don't want to find out the hard way you're out of brake fluid.

Re: installiing pertronix ignitor

Jetbrd66... I have the exact same story, so much so initially I had to back to make sure I did not write the post. At this point I am going to stop focusing on carb and timing adjustments and begin looking at my petronix setup, I have a feeling this is going to be what's plagued me for the last 9 m...

Thanks for those suggestions, my modulator line runs off the back of the manifold from memory.

Who knows, maybe the booster and/or fitting are off an older Thunderbird?

'66 brake-booster fitting

Hi all, on the vacuum fitting on the brake-booster in my '66 Town Landau is a small blocked-off 3/16(?) fitting, any idea why that vacuum fitting is there/what it's for? ::? It is part of the fitting the large vacuum hose attaches to on the booster and somebody has blocked this small fitting with a ...
