Re: engine bay questions

One idea to prevent having the springs painted and to try to duplicate the Phos finish is to spray the springs with Tool makers ink. It is like a stain and has a low luster finish when buffed after it is dry, It also stays on the spring after opening and closing cycles, not like paint which chips off.

Re: Bill VanEss - In Memoriam

I remember Bill, lovely man and had a wonderful outgoing personality. He will be missed and sadly was taken to soon. Did not have any dealings recently but in years gone by we did have some interesting conversations.
May he rest quietly.
Not to many 70's era members still around.

Re: Stickers for 66

Scott, Good day sir. My efforts were in the area of a 64 track assembly. Think all relativly the same except date stamp. Due to other issues that I have on the table ahead of me, this label is a low priority and will probly cost more than what any member would pay and who is a OCD driver. I will sit...

Re: Stickers for 66

I am glad you fellows are working on this "Tag" (seat motor). I had began the leg work to reproduce this tag with my graphics lady, but will now stop due to the fact there is no need to reinvent the wheel. I have at this moment only talked so no out of pocket expense.

Re: Passenger reclining seat problem

Good day When it comes to the recliner seat, and operation, have you checked to see if the cable from the handle is intact and the eyelet end loop is mounted to the pin/stud on the handle? Secondly, have you removed the seat back pan, to get access to the actuator cylinder. You may have a broken cyl...

I may know of one. Are you still looking, and what are you willing to pay? I will not put hopes in the sellers mind, if it is a twist your arm sale. He knows the value, and is not willing to be jerked around.

Re: 64 Steering Pump suddenly seized up?

Try sourcing EATON hydralics. Depending on the application you can still buy rebuild kits. You do not state if you have A/C or not. Regardless it is the same PUMP just different resevoirs. The pump is simple in design, and is rebuildable. The pump was a very common used unit on many application year...

Re: power decklid for 59?

Something else to be aware of is the rear deck lids. The hardtop unit is different than the Convert top. This was found out several years back when a fellow I knew was restoring a 58. Due to the size, shape and weight of the lids, an inner additional brace was mounted inside the frame work of the Co...

Re: MYSTERY TAG ID?

You will find the same Anti Static strap on the 64-66 model years also. Depending on year, they are slightly different shaped to the year applicable. It is one of the small details of having a correct car, along with the Tranny tag, Motor tag, Carb tag, steering box tag, and Rear end tag.

Re: Radial Tires /Bias ply

In all the years I have worked with Birds, when it comes to Bias vs Radials, there is 2 things to note. One the handling is very different and the car does not steer/track well on Bias tires. Secondly per my alignment guy who has a race car alignment shop, has set up many vintage cars in my local ar...

Re: Problem after replacing convertible top hydraulic lines

Off the top of my head, I do not know an easy way to test the solenoid valves for flow, with out building a test fixture. Plus I do not know the actual flow rate to compare against. To test the solenoid valve for function, in my mind, would be to set up a regulated air supply and energize the coil w...

Re: Problem after replacing convertible top hydraulic lines

Yes the Post and PM came thru. First off, make sure you have good grounding of the fluid solenoid valves. Second, just so we are all on the same mind set, pls confirm the actions working or not. eg deck unlock, then deck raise (lift rams extend) pushing up the trunk lid to the fully open position, a...

Re: Lower Deck Lid Cylinder Bushings

Not knowing the specification sizes of the bushings presently, nor needing them, I can not fully comment, BUT in mechanical terms, there must be a supplier who can trade out your needs with brass bushings, available from a bearing/industrial distributer. Do not be held up by needing a proper nylon u...
