Re: 1964 FRONT END BRAKING SHUDDER
Yes 64zcode forgot to mention changed brake shoes still shuddering. Will check drums and arc this weekend, thanks David Langhorne.Gotcha on the BB tool RT46 ....thanks So let me try to be a bit clearer about the brake shoes being the possible culprit of the shuddering issue. On my '64, I had the fr...

Re: 1964 FRONT END BRAKING SHUDDER
I went with New Old Stock brake shoes on the front and that cured the shuddering problem.

Re: 1966 gas octane question
I have a 1966 with the standard 390 (engine rebuild about 2,000 miles ago). Best gas I can find locally is 93-octane. Each tank-up I add one bottle of octane booster that can be bought most anywhere. Still get engine knock only when accelerating. Question: If I added two bottles of octane booster p...

Re: Newbie - Hi All - 1964 question
Yes it does. The car shouldn't start unless it's in Park. That's when the switch should be in the closed position.

Re: New member Sports Roadster in Malaysia. Fuel Injection or Carb?
I agree your current problem is likely due an incorrect or failing power valve. But, assuming your car has the 390, a new 670 cfm Holley with vacuum secondaries should work great and flat spots will be a distant memory. Also, folks on this forum and others have gone for the Holley Sniper throttle bo...

Re: CHANGING IGNITION
I put a Pertronix III module in my '64 a few years back and as I remember, Pertronix recommended increasing the stock plug gap by an additional .005 to .007. They'll have their recommendation in the instructions with the module or on their website. I also installed the Pertronix coil and 8mm MSD spa...

Re: 65 Temp gauge sender test bad but not?
You can use an infra red heat meter to measure actual engine coolant temp when warmed up, which I believe should be between 190-220 degrees F. Point the meter at the top tank of the radiator. It the actual temp is in that range, then your car's temp gauge is reading low, not a big deal as long as th...

Try using a broom handle or an automotive stethoscope to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

Re: 1964 Fuel Tank
Hi my 1964 T-bird appears to have a very small fuel leak as I can't see any fuel leaking but the smell is from the back of the car. I've previously replaced the fuel lines but the tank was re-lined many years ago by the previous owner. My question is - Spectra makes 2 tanks for that year 37A & ...

Re: Points or Electronic Ignition
I did just replace my distributor and coil with the pertronix flame thrower system. I'm told to remove or bypass the resistor for the old coil. I see it in the wiring diagram but can't find it on the car. The dash is out of the car I thought it would be easy to locate. Any suggestions? And what's t...

Re: 1964 Water Temp Sensor & Gauge Problem?
Would be good to verify the actual temp of the coolant when the car is warmed up, for example with an IR temp gun by pointing it at the top tank of the radiator. It should be 195-220 F. If it's in the right operating range, and your temp gauge registers increases or decreases in coolant temperature,...

Re: 1964 Carb Choke Plate Problem
Seems like the butterfly is pretty close to wide open so engine performance shouldn't be impacted. As long as the linkage isn't binding up and sticking at any point of it's travel, you should be fine.

Re: Sticky throttle linkage
If penetrating oil doesn't resolve it, the linkage may be binding where it passes through the floorboards under the gas pedal.
