Refinish aluminum door trim? 65 convertible
Hi everyone, I am redoing my door panels and I have the anodized aluminum trim (looks like chrome). The driver's side aluminum has alot of scratches that won't come out with polish. BN recommended "Shine on me" in San Clemente, CA, but they are no more. Can anyone recommend a company that ...

Re: Opinions on door seals? 65 convertible
The "budget" seals from BN were unusable. I ordered directly from Steele.

Re: Opinions on door seals? 65 convertible
I just spoke to BN and they are aware the imported weatherstrip is "budget". I am throwing it away and just bought a new set from Steele. The joys of car restoration!

Re: Opinions on door seals? 65 convertible
Thanks, I was going to call Steele today. Did you shave the weatherstrip and/or use adhesive when you installed? I didn't see a need to, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Opinions on door seals? 65 convertible
Anyone have thoughts on door seals and vendors? I bought the imported set of door seals from BN, and I'm not sure they're even for Thunderbirds. The last pin was 1.5" away from the hole, and the rubber is way too big in a number of places, the door won't shut. I know they are supposed to be muc...

Re: Question on 65 convertible; adjust finish panel
Thanks. You are right, takes lots of time and fiddling. A mechanic friend was helping me and he adjusted the mechanical stops just a few turns and the lid stopped extending. Backed them up and voila; it worked again. When I bought the car the finish panel fit was great. One day I was operated the to...

Re: Question on 65 convertible; adjust finish panel
Thanks jtschug, I appreciate it. I'm always a little concerned I will adjust something on the top and it will just explode. Thanks again.

Re: Question on 65 convertible; adjust finish panel
When the top is completely down, the finish panel is 1/8" too high in each forward corner. It's also too far back (towards the trunk), by 1/16" or so. I planned to move the panel forward and front end downward, just a bit.

Question on 65 convertible; adjust finish panel
Hi everyone, The finish panel on my 65 convertible is out of adjustment just a bit when extended/top completely retracted. I understand I loosen the hinge arm retaining bolts and adjust from there. Does any finish panel adjustment then require an adjustment of the upper back panel limit switch? I've...

Re: 65 Convertible-threaded bolt near upper back panel limit switch?
Thanks Raven and Apines, pics are attached, sorry they are sideways. Apines, I started to suspect exactly what you said, thanks! The switch is pretty new from BN and my mechanic put it in and adjusted it. I think both stops are hitting the hinge when the flip lid is extended. When the flip lid is co...

65 Convertible-threaded bolt near upper back panel limit switch?
Can anyone ID the threaded bolt right near the upper back panel limit switch on a 65 convertible? It is on the flip lid- trunk lid hinge, has a bell shaped head , turns with a standard screw driver. It appears to stop the flip lid at full extension (there is a less adjustable bolt on the other side)...

Re: Convertible top circuit 15a breaker question- 65 convertible
Thanks. I called BN (I bought the pump from them). They said there is a circuit breaker inside the pump that can be sensitive and "you just bend it a little to adjust it". I'll try replacing the small circuit breakers and see if it helps. Thanks again for your reply.

Re: rear power window
I had nothing but trouble with 2 replacement quarter window motors. Check the regulator, spring, and manually try to operate the window in it's cassette on a bench (motor out). My problem was fixed by buying a rebuilt FOMOCO motor.

Convertible top circuit 15a breaker question- 65 convertible
Hi everyone, A question for you all. I have gotten my 65 convertible to a pretty good state (very few gremlins). The convertible top has a new pump, lines, upper back panel limit switch, 60a breaker. The top, and occasionally the lid, "stall" in the middle of operation. Everything still ma...
