Re: Ford rebuilt

Yep Terri, about 25 years ago I worked for a authorized Ford rebuilder and we painted all our automotive engines the darker Ford blue. The industrial engines were red such as the 4-172/192, V-4-104 (Saab Sonnet Automobile also)etc.

Re: Odd noise in engine

Jim, I'm not sure but doesn't the 63 have that hydraulic pump for the windshield wipers mounted on the fuel pump? I've seen alls kind of sounds transfered in engines. Just wondered if that pump could be the noise being transfered to the time chain cover.

Yep, the base models had manual sets as well as roll up windows. My donor car (1962) has manual seats.

Re: Air Cleaner Dent Repair

I've have the Harbor Freight blast cabinet for 4 years now and it works great! When I purchased it I threw away those cork gaskets and used regular silicone sealer to seal everything up during assembly. No leaks at all. I also modified the rear plug to accept a 1-1/2 PVC pipe which I run over to a s...

Re: Front wheel cylinders.

Yep Jim, I had the same problem trying all the auto parts places. Finally just got my die gringer out and slightly relieved the spindale for clearance. Funny, all 4 cylinders had different bleed screw sizes. Have to use 4 different wrenches to bleed the darn thing!! May need to get those numbers fro...

Re: Rear Spring Adjustment?

Just curious, are you sure both springs are the same? I replaced mine a couple of years ago and ordered them from one of the T-Bird vendors. When they arrives I stacked them and noticed they were close but not the same. I call the vendor and asked the springs were wrong and he found out someone pull...

The door button assembly looks like this. ./image-archive/i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee397/BobHH1/PushButtonOne.jpg Here are the pieces: ./image-archive/i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee397/BobHH1/PushButtom.jpg It is possible that your retainer clip/hook may be broken. It is a pain to get to as the...

I don't believe the chrome package had a chrome air cleaner. Just valve covers, expansion tank, oil filler cap, master cylinder cap and power steering pump cap.

Well if it is setup where the air cleaner element is between it and the carb I would feel a bit easier. On those cars I believe there was a mesh filter pad that clamped into place in front of the connect inside the air cleaner. Again the oil filler cap is a breathing devise so the threat of pop back...

Appears to be a poor and kind of dangerous attempt for a PCV setup. Unfortunately I do not see a one way valve which would close in the event of a back fire through the carb. This setup could cause an explosion if a back fire or pop flame gets to the gases on the valve covers. Suggest removing it.
