No need to change it as long as it's working.

Re: Replacing MC on a 66 with a dual bowl

Stubbie, I didn't think that AN was the same as SAE inverted flare - or is it? I thought that even though they're both 37 degree's, they're different threads (2A vs 3A). Something like this (if not this exact size fitting) seems like a good fit. Just have to bend the stock line a bit and connect it:...

Re: Replacing MC on a 66 with a dual bowl

Very cool Joe. Does the banjo fitting itself seal against the face of the MC housing or does it seal to the inverted flare part (if that makes sense)?
Got a source?

I remember looking for something similar and not being able to find it, probably for the reason you site.

Re: 1966 duel master break

You don't need to worry about resevoir size or capacity. The issue are having residual valves in the MC, the correct size piston and connections on the side you need. So anyone doing the conversion to a dual MC needs to source a drum/drum MC for a stock 64 or a drum/disc MC for a 65-66 and watch the...

Re: Dealing with Unobtanium (Guide Plate stud)

Nice job!
Had to get a a couple of used ones from The Birds Nest.
I also had to deal with a rattle can black paint job in the eng compartment. Unfortunately the only person I could blame was the 16 y/o version of myself back in the 70's.

Re: brake booster check valve

I have a 66. Smaller port on brake booster check valve has always been capped. Before and after a transmission rebuild. Transmission shifts very smoothly. If it's not broke...... . My guess is you modulator is connected to eng vacuum somewhere else. Otherwise it would shift hard into second (unless...

Re: 66 break powerbooster

As long as the rubber line you used isn't collapsing, it's good to go. Many fuel lines are also vacuum rated. If the brakes are grabby, "Dewey" may have adjusted the little push rod too long like he did with mine. If that's the case, the brakes will seem VERY good but they are not realeasi...

Re: Windshield replacement

Thanks for the advice Terry. The Butyl tape is an excellent idea since the goop is so messy and gets everywhere. I remember going through about a quart of laquer thinner and about a dozen shop towels removing all the gunk from my back window a few years ago. I'd hate to get that stuff anywhere I did...

Re: Instrument voltage regulator

It's attached to the back of the speedo towards the pass. side of the car with a hex head screw. Not sure you can even see it as much as you have to just feel for it. Maybe use a mirror to search for it. I cheated and mounted the new one to another screw that I could see easily on the firewall. If o...

Re: Windshield replacement

I had mine replaced many years ago. Pauls right about the trim - there's a ton of it and they mangled mine. It also leaked. Later, I ended up having to take tin snips to a piece of trim that suddenly sprang away form the body over the door just so I could shut the door. Paid a premium for a replacem...

Re: Replacing MC on a 66 with a dual bowl

Stubbie's got it.
The larger resevoir is for the disc brakes and the smaller one is for the drums. So the prop valve needs to connect to the forward, smaller res.
I used the old brass block for the front brake lines and tapped the end hole for the brake light switch.

Re: hood fit

Story time! (I heard that groan..) One of My hinges failed roughly 40 years ago at about 75K miles. Back when mine failed there were no replacements available (pre-interweb). So I had a welder buddy doctor them up. We used some bolts with smooth sections and cut the threaded part off. Then he welded...

Re: Brake Bleeding Help

I was getting nowhere with my little Mightyvac hand pump after replacing all the lines. So I bought the $12 Mightyvac resevoir and a cheap, 25' piece of vacuum hose from Amazon (looked like aquarium tubing..). Then attached it to a vacuum port on the eng and used that to bleed the brakes through the...
