Re: Upper Ball Joint Notch

I installed those RP ball joints along with a full front end slate about 4 years ago. Hundreds of miles, car rides like factory. Get a HD front sway bar from Carolina Sway Bar while your down there and help the ol girl get around corners correctly

Re: Problems with '65 Bird

Welcome to the forum. I've noticed the shortage of brake calipers this year, too. This industry is really cyclical and dependent on core supply. Rebuilders will come back online when they have enough KH cores to work from. Consider rebuilding your own? There has been a large number of really crappy ...

Re: 1966 upper ball joint to control arm nut torque spec

Here's something from my '64 manual. You decide if you think there's any difference--I doubt there is.
Upper arm ball joint assembly to spindle nut 60-80 ft. lbs.
Upper ball joint to upper arm 60-80 ft. lbs.

Re: Rear Leaf Sags

The science of spring longevity is defined mostly by the number of cycles the spring is subjected to, not the weight of the car. Every time the spring cycles up and down it weakens. The quality of steel matters also. If you know your local spring maker i.e., some truck spring manufacturers might be ...

Re: Drivers Door Mirror Bezel

That toggle looks like most I've seen but I've seen at least three different iterations that are all very close and basically the same but with very slight differences. Who's to say why that is, factory supply or dealer issues, reproduction, aftermarket...?? Never have heard an explanation. Your bez...

Re: Anyone have an upgraded alternator they'd recommend?

Hi all, My 65 convertible has a new alternator rated 35amps@2000rpm, 67amps at 6000rpm. I've read some threads on this forum about using 100amp alternators and one person liked https://www.powerbastards.com/proddetail.asp?prod=7058-220-HD2-475 Has anyone upgraded their alternator and can you recomm...

Re: CONNECTING THE WIPER MOTOR...

Aw, Stubbie beat me by that much! Notice your hard line is plumbed with NPT fittings and the other one is a nipple. Mine is right in the middle of rebuild so I could snap this pic; hopefully, it shows you something.

Re: RH valve cover

It's hard rubber; it has a flange that grabs the metal rim from both sides. You have to pry it off. Mine was so old and hardened it chipped and broke into pieces. I ordered a new one which came and was softer. The PCV valve is inside there. It would be a good time to check that as well. If it rattle...

Are you mentioning the PCV and hose to the base plate below the carburetor?

Re: Brake Booster

D017DACC-370E-4BBA-9282-85ED607BD85B.jpeg 64s have two different OEM boosters (this is mine). Whichever type you have, look for the two spacers that fit between booster and MC. One is nylon, one is aluminum. Missing/wrong spacers could fudge your pedal travel. And up on the vacuum manifold, the nip...

The site engineer posted that the photo issue is corrected. My test photo worked. You can try again if needed.

It might be the site. At all times yesterday and just now I tried uploading images from separate devices and the app wouldn’t load them.

Re: 65 brake hose torque limit

Thanks all. Good feedback to go on. I tried one replacement set of washers just to see. The weeping slowed to a one drip per minute, but still. I won't be trying another set of new washers, i.e., doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Even though washers and block are all n...

65 brake hose torque limit

Is there a known limit on the caliper bolt? The manual sets a limit to the other end of the hose at the chassis but skips the caliper bolt. I have two new copper washers and a new hose. Won’t stop leaking. 🤬. Did I already create a leak at the washers? Is it a bad new hose? I don’t want to wreck the...
